There are several ways to access the contents of Agricultural History.

The tables of contents and abstracts from every issue from 2003 onward is available on our Past Issues page.

Agricultural History has two published indexes. The first is volume 73 no. 4 (Fall 1999), which contains the cumulative indexes for the Agricultural History Papers: Volumes 1 through 3, 1921, 1923, 1925 and Agricultural History volumes 1 through 25 (1927=-1951), as well as the “Guide to the Records of the Agricultural History Society, 1919=-1982.” The second is volume 77 no. 1 (Winter 2003), and it comprises the cumulative index for Agricultural History volumes 26 through 50 (1952=-1976). This volume is also accessible online as a fully searchable pdf file at http://www.aghistorysociety.org/journal/contents/indexes.html.

The most recent cumulative index for the journal is available only online, free of charge. This latest index is split into two files due to their large sizes, “A thru M” and “N thru Z.” Covering volumes 51 through 81 (1977-=2007), these are fully searchable pdf files. They represent the end of cumulative indexing for the journal as content is increasingly available online and through numerous search avenues.

The “Contents” page of the Agricultural History Society and journal’s website provides various ways of searching journal content. The full text of all articles published since 2000 is online and fully searchable through a link from our “Contents” page to MetaPress, although a subscription or article purchase is required for full access to material identified. Through the Core Historical Literature of Agriculture in Cornell University’s Mann Library, all articles from 1927 to 1965 are available online at http://chla.library.cornell.edu/. Using the “Search” feature of this site will gather results from all of its holdings, not just Agricultural History. To access solely Agricultural History content, go to “Browse” and then click on either the letter A or go through the “Journal Title List.” Choosing Agricultural History will bring you to a page where you can browse the journal by year and then by issue.
