2006 marked the first full annual meeting of the Agricultural History Society. Prior to 2006, the Society had sponsored biannual symposia on specific topics.

The 2006 meeting at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass., on the other hand, featured nearly forty panels on a wide variety of agricultural history topics and included scholars representing a variety of disciplines from both the United States and abroad. Building on this success, the 2007 Annual Meeting was held at Iowa State University in Ames, IA.
