Current Project
I am exploring racism in the United States Department of
Agriculture, in particular in the years since the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The focus is on the Farmers Home Administration, the Agricultural
Stabilization, Conservation Service, and the Federal Extension Service.
Sources include records of the USDA, U.S. Civil Rights Commission, Congressional hearings,
newspapers, and legal sources. Future research will take me to southern
state archives and land grant universities.
